Integrated water treatment
At DION+, we address water treatment challenges through intelligent, holistic system integration rather than single components. Every project begins with a detailed assessment of the composition of the feed water, the treatment objectives, the recovery requirements and the operational constraints. Membrane capacitive deionisation (MCDI) forms the core of our technology platform. Depending on salinity levels and contaminant profiles, we integrate additional technologies such as closed-circuit reverse osmosis (CCRO), membrane bioreactors (MBRs) and ultrafiltration (UF) to create complete, application-specific solutions. This structured approach ensures that technology selection is driven by engineering requirements, not product limitations.
Using membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) with optional closed‑circuit reverse osmosis (CCRO), our decentralized desalination systems reach up to 95% water recovery, 40% energy savings and over 50% brine reduction.
Membrane Capacitive Deionization (MCDI)
The MCDI+ is the central element of DION+ desalination systems and enables energy-efficient desalination and selective ion removal, particularly for water streams with low to moderate salinity. The MCDI acts as the precision adjustment module within the overall treatment process.
Closed-Circuit Reverse Osmosis (CCRO)
For applications involving high salinity levels, CCRO offers efficient bulk desalination. Its closed-circuit configuration enables higher recovery rates and more precise energy management than conventional reverse osmosis systems. In DION+ systems, CCRO is usually used for high TDS feed water or as a pre-desalination stage before MCDI.
Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)
MBR combines biological degradation with membrane filtration to remove organic matter and suspended solids from wastewater streams. When integrated with MCDI, MBR provides organic load reduction while MCDI removes dissolved ion composition.
Ultrafiltration (UF)
Ultrafiltration provides reliable removal of suspended solids, pathogens, and turbidity. By stabilizing feed water quality, UF pre-treatment enhances overall system reliability and performance.
